[VFX Fundamentals] Weeks 9 to 11 – Texturing, Rigging and Rendering


Texturing in Substance Painter

On Monday of Week 9, we started learning how to use Substance Painter. I now have a basic understanding of texturing in that software, which will definitely be a substantial facilitation while working on my Final Term Project. We practiced using different materials, mixing them, and masking.

Rigging

During week 10, we were shown how to do rigging in Maya on the example of a human and an animal model. We were asked to create some simple movements, such as doing squats.

Rendering

In week 11 we had a rendering workshop, which was my first time using the Arnold renderer in Maya. We received a model of a robot, to which we applied textures and lighting.
