[NUKE] WEEK 1 BALLOON FESTIVAL PROJECT – Moodboard and Rotoscoping the Mountains

Last Thursday, we officially started working on our long-term Nuke project. We are meant to create a Balloon Festival scene, which will give us a chance to put to use the knowledge acquired during the weekly Nuke tutorials.

We were asked to kick-start the project by first rotoscoping the mountains on the provided exr sequence, and create a moodboard of how we would like our final scene to look.

This is the roto I ended up with, followed by the node set-up from my file.

Below, on the other hand, you can see my moodboard. I would like my scene to be surreal, eerie and a bit disturbing, while still keeping the colour palette very lively and bold. I got mostly inspired by a Polish surrealist painter, Jarosław Jaśnkiowski, whose art you can see on the right-hand side of the moodboard.
